The Cap Lamp ( SGEC-MAKE, TYPE-SG:III ) is charged by a system of modified constant potential on a frame and charger unit, specially designed for Cap Lamps. The special charging equipment, in addition to providing an efficient method of charge, saves labor in the Lamp cabin because it permits a “ self-service” system, in which the Miner himself takes his Lamp from the Lamp cabin, and puts it on Charge at the end of his The Lamps therefore are not charged for a fixed period, but are left on charge until next requirement. Each Lamp takes only the current necessary for a correct charge, provided the Charger voltage is maintained at the specified value of 4.1 Volts (max.) by rotating the coarse & fine rotary switches. The output voltage displayed on the meter should never exceed 3.4 volts at no load condition.Charging equipment is normally supplied as a complete unit consisting of a 27-Type Charger and frame, which will accommodate 27 Lamps. Three shelves each with nine charging positions.
